It’s a Hoosier thing!

Imagine this: Deep fried, tender, and crispy pork tenderloin in a sandwich bun, with lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
*Caution: According to “experts” this sandwich is highly addictive!

When I first got into town, I was flipping through channels on my TV and found Adam Richman (Man vs. Food) in Indy. He was eating a gigantic pork tenderloin sandwich, bigger than his face!

I became curious about it and wondered if it had any connection to the Austrian schnitzel. I’ve tried the sandwich at three places in B-town. The best one so far is at Upland, a local microbrewery.

But I was never able to understand the importance of this sandwich to Hoosier identity until now. Brian Roberts kindly shared this short documentary about the cultural significance of the pork tenderloin sandwich in Indiana.

My favorite parts of it start around 1:09, 2:00, 4:35, and 5:55.
